What can I do if my Skaha pivot screws loosen?

| 0

We do not ship the Skaha with loctite on either the pivot or other screws. In general, because the Skaha pivot area is subject to initial wear-in and wear over time, pivot screw adjustment will be required sooner or later.

Besides wear-in on new knives, there are individual knives and usage scenarios where pivot screw loosening may occur. In either case, users should be on the lookout for blades with side to side play, which indicates either wear or loosening of the screws.

The 4 standoff screws (T8 Torx) and the clip screw (T10) should also be checked for looseness and tightened.

When pivot loosening has occurred, tighten the pivot screws (T10 Torx) just to the point that side to side play goes away, no tighter, as too tight leads to increased wear and sluggish action. You want the blade to swing freely but not have play.

However, if you find that the screws are loosening again rather soon after adjustment, we suggest you apply a tiny bit of medium strength loctite blue paste to each pivot thread, readjust and let cure overnight. The same advice applies to any of the other screws. The loctite we suggest is part number 37643.
