Though we released Yew wood handles on all our knives near the end of 2014, the intention to do so came early in the year. But before we could start making wood handles, many problems had to be solved, including how we would stabilize and protect the the various woods we had in mind. We also needed a source of supply for the wood. As those things gradually fell into place, we began using video to document the journey the wood took from log to knife scale. The video below begins on hot day in mid July with Mike and I using a chainsaw mill to make lumber from a large dead and fallen pacific yew log. Enjoy!
