NOTE: The Skaha is on back-order at the moment. We’ve experienced a spike in orders since Nick Shabazz released his maintenance and review videos. We have an order by order production plan for handling the backlog. Though we are still accepting orders, be aware that a Skaha ordered today will not ship till Oct 20th or 27th (we’ll keep this updated). Orders will be filled strictly in the sequence received. We are adding a note to every order with the planned ship date; if it looks like the plan will slip, we will provide an updated date. Thank you for your patience!
The Skaha folding knife (Ska-ha) is a lightweight modern “flipper” pocket knife. The blade is a highly useful 3.3 inches long and flips very smoothly on miniature ball bearings. Pulling on the flipper tab loads a detent to the point resistance is overcome and the blade opens with a click using just one hand. Closing is also a one handed operation in which the lockbar tab is pushed to the side to allow the blade to close. As an every day carry (EDC) knife, the one handed opening and closing makes it an amazingly useful tool compared to a traditional pocket knife. The knife carries tip up via a single position pocket clip.
We CNC mill the blade from CPM S35VN stainless steel. Our standard “CNC” blade finish shows the milling contours that form the bevel.
We machine the handle scales from G10 epoxy-fiberglass layered laminate, a relatively light but super strong material.
The bearings, pivot pin, thrust washers, stop pin and pocket clip are made from hardened stainless steel. The lockbar is made from spring-tempered S35VN.
Maintenance instructions are packed with the knife and we have a detailed online how-to. If you don’t already have a light oil for your folder, we offer a good knife oil as an option to purchase with the knife.
Legal Note: This style of folding knife is legal in Canada and in most places around the world because it does not open automatically or by a wrist flick, or utilize any spring assist. We recommend you thoroughly research the laws applicable in your area before ordering. Some local laws in the USA (eg Chicago, NYC) have significant restrictions on knife carry/possession and significant penalties if you’re caught. This article would be a good place to start. Australia changed their import law in Dec 2015 to specifically allow flipper knives. If in any doubt, you should contact your border control authority and ask them. The onus is on you to follow your national and local laws.
The Skaha takes its name from a lake in the fertile Okanagan Valley of BC.
